UBC Local 2222 donates $10,000 to support local food banks

November 19, 2023

UBC Local 2222 is supporting families in need during challenging times, by donating $10,000 to four food banks across Bruce, Grey, Huron, and Perth counties, including the Kincardine Food Bank.

The donation of $2,500 to each food bank underscores the union's dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of those experiencing hardship.

"These are difficult times for many families, and we believe it is our responsibility to give back to the communities that have supported us," said Ryan Plante, UBC Local 2222 co-ordinator. "We’re proud to contribute $10,000 to support the invaluable work of local food banks in Bruce, Grey, Huron, and Perth counties. We hope that this donation helps alleviate some of the challenges our neighbours face and reinforces the importance of solidarity during times of need."

Besides the food bank in Kincardine, the money will go to the Salvation Army Food Bank serving Grey County, Huron County Food Bank serving Huron County and Stratford House of Blessing serving Perth County.

Local 2222's commitment to community service extends beyond the workplace, reflecting a broader dedication to the well-being of the regions it serves. The union believes in the strength of collective action and hopes this donation inspires others to contribute to local initiatives that support vulnerable community members.
