Kincardine Dancing With the Stars raises $36,000 for local Big Brothers and Big Sisters
November 19, 2023
The Kincardine Dancing With the Stars gala event was a huge success, raising more than $36,000 for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of South Bruce North Huron.
Local celebrities and seasoned dancers gave it their all in front of a packed house and on-line viewers as they took to the floor of the historic Kincardine Pavilion, Nov. 4.
The competition was incredibly close, and all of the dance pairs put on an incredible show! The final results saw Dana Daetwyler and Bryan Shelley take the top spot, followed by Alana Rozon and Louis Kosmerly in second place, and Rachel Mackay and Blayne Hussey in third.
“Thanks to the generosity and support of our sponsors and attendees both in-person and on-line, Dancing with the Stars raised $36,000, every dollar of which will fund the creation and execution of the critical programs for at-risk youth in our communities,” said Linda Johnson, event team lead.
“Planning an event of this calibre is a year in the making, and it goes without saying that the wonderful night we all experienced is thanks to our many passionate and generous volunteers. A huge amount of work goes into learning a ballroom dance routine, especially if you have never attempted ballroom dance before.
“It’s important to remember that our celebrity dancers aren’t just volunteering their time, they’re putting themselves out there to learn something brand new in just a few short months and then perform in front of a live audience. That’s pretty impressive, and we are so proud of and grateful for each and every one of our dancers.”
Be sure to save the date for next year’s Dancing With the Stars gala, scheduled for Nov. 2, 2024.
