Kincardine to welcome another new physician in 2024
Dr. Pamela Gill (above right, with her family) could be joining the Kincardine community to practise family medicine as early as next summer.

Her arrival moves the Municipality of Kincardine closer to the goal of every person having access to a family physician, states a press release issued Wednesday by the municipality.

“I am excited to practise medicine in Kincardine,” says Gill. “My family and I love the outdoors and feel that it will be a wonderful place to work and raise our family.”

A graduate of McMaster University’s medical school, Gill is currently completing her medical residency in London. She will, potentially, be able to practise family medicine as soon as July, 2024.

She joins Dr. Owen Montpellier, Dr. Allegra Reeves, and Dr. Janine Van Veghel who are all planning to join the community next year.

“The efforts of our physician recruiter and the Kincardine Family Physicians are showing with these new hires,” says Kincardine mayor Kenneth Craig. “We have a positive future for recruitment, retention, and for the doctors and their families joining us. I would personally like to welcome Dr. Pamela Gill to our community.”

The Kincardine Family Health Organization currently has 10 physicians providing primary care for 14,500 patients. A full complement would be more than 15 physicians whose work includes emergency room shifts, provision of hospital inpatient coverage, retirement home care, pregnancy and baby wellness programs, palliative care, memory clinics, mental health management, and care for patients in all stages of life.

As physician recruitment work continues, the support of the Society of United Professionals is unwavering. Its purchase of two homes in 2014 to serve as locum houses is a keystone in recruitment efforts.

“The municipality continues to actively recruit physicians,” says Craig. “Collaborative efforts, like the relationship we have with the Society of United Professionals, are one of the many ways we’re working to achieve the goal of every person having access to a family physician in the Municipality of Kincardine.”
