OPP warn of high wind, heavy snowfall in Huron County
(HURON COUNTY, ON) - Huron County OPP officers are expecting some less-than-favourable weather tonight (Nov. 27) and into tomorrow morning (Nov. 28).
Huron County is expected to receive a significant amount of snowfall accompanied by high wind, which may cause dangerous-driving conditions for motorists on Huron County roadways.
The Huron OPP is advising motorists to be prepared if they must travel and ensure they have the necessary winter items on board.
Suggestions include:
- Full tank of fuel (or charge your vehicle battery to full)
- Snow brush
- Blanket
- Cell phone charger
- Snacks
- Warm clothing
- Windshield washer fluid
Clear your front windshield completely, as well as your rear window, side windows and mirrors.
Another safe practice is to tell your loved ones your planned route of travel and message them when you have arrived safely.
"Every year, the Huron OPP detachment area experiences significant weather events that disrupt traffic flow and jeopardize public safety,” says constable Craig Soldan, community safety officer. “We remind motorists to adjust their driving habits for the pending weather to ensure safe travel on our roadways."
