Bruce Power joins government, industry leaders promoting nuclear advantage globally
As the world begins to embrace the fact that nuclear is the path to a clean energy future, Bruce Power is attending international conferences to help share Ontario’s nuclear advantage as a front-runner in the global industry.
The company joined Ontario energy minister Todd Smith, the Canadian Nuclear Association and other industry leaders at the
World Nuclear Exhibition in Paris, Nov. 28-30, leading into the 28th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (
COP28) in Dubai, Nov. 30-Dec. 12.
“We’re in a unique position to share our expertise and experience as one of the world’s largest nuclear operators in the midst of a Life-Extension Program to renew our existing fleet,” said Pat Dalzell, Bruce Power’s executive director, of corporate affairs. “We’re proud to be a contributor to one of the world’s cleanest energy sectors and to support
Powering Ontario’s Growth Plan, which has committed to our industry going forward by exploring opportunities for both small- and large-scale nuclear new builds.”
The theme of the World Nuclear Exhibition is “Connecting nuclear to the world: Rising to the energy and environmental challenges,” which aligns closely with Bruce Power’s goals as the province moves to secure clean energy options at a time of historical growth in demand for electrification to stimulate the economy.
The aim of COP28 is for the recognition of nuclear as a clean energy source for de-carbonization and to take collaborative action now to triple global nuclear capacity. Bruce Power and the Ontario government are already on the leading edge of these clean energy commitments and are eager to share with the world, and advocate for, nuclear’s socio-economic and environmental benefits.
The Canadian delegation at COP28 will include representatives from the federal government, including the ministries of environment and climate change, natural resources, and several others.
