Development begins on subdivision at east end of Bruce Avenue, Kincardine
Construction activity has begun on the 30-acre property at the east end of Bruce Avenue in the former Town of Kincardine.
That’s the word from the Municipality of Kincardine, in a press release issued Tuesday.
Known as the Brown Subdivision, the development along Highway 21 includes 46 single family lots, two blocks with medium-density housing, and two apartment blocks.
The subdivision agreement met approval with Kincardine council, Oct. 11.
Collaborating with municipal staff and the municipal engineer, B.M. Ross and Associates Ltd., the developer is preparing the site for servicing.
Installation of a new watermain to service the area has resulted in a temporary closure of Bruce Avenue, which began Monday (Dec. 4). Crews hope to complete the work by Friday, Dec. 15, weather permitting.
Bruce Avenue closures during this time include:
- From Wieck Boulevard to Highway 21 with NO access for local traffic
- From Princes Street South to Wieck Boulevard with access for local traffic only
“We are thrilled to see this long-awaited subdivision move forward in the Municipality of Kincardine,” said mayor Kenneth Craig. “Council and staff have been working diligently to advance developments and increase the much-needed housing supply in our community. This development will not only provide more than 300 residential units, but it also includes a broad range of housing types from single family homes to townhouses and apartments.”
“I am really pleased to be moving forward with this great new residential development in Kincardine,” said property owner David Brown. “I am also excited about the state-of-the-art communal parkland, trail connections, and stormwater ponds that we will be creating as part of the design.”
