Bervie W.I. celebrates 97th birthday of member Mildred Griffith
Christmas was the theme when the Bervie Women’s Institute met at the Bervie United Church, Wednesday.
President Bev Berndt welcomed everyone and gave an update on several of our members who have been experiencing health issues. We wish them a speedy recovery. The meeting opened with the usual openings and readings by Bev, “Help Wanted,” and “Year Round Joy.”
Eight members answered the Roll Call, “A Christmas Custom from another Country.” The minutes of the last meeting were read by Betty Jean White and the treasurer’s report given by Islay Eby.
Betty Jean, Elsie and Mildred thanked the group for the birthday flowers they had recently received. A donation will be made to the Bervie United Church. Mildred reported that she has the Tweedsmuir book all up-to-date.
Sandra MacDonald gave the Sunshine report – she will be sending out several Christmas cards in the near future. Betty Jean indicated that she had prepared and delivered an additional 80 cook books to the Kincardine Food Bank.
Program convener Joyce Roach gave several readings on Christmas and then Christmas carol-singing was enjoyed by all.
Dianne Wilson and Bev surprised Mildred Griffith with a birthday cake for her 97th birthday which was Nov. 1, but Mildred was sick at that time and unable to attend our November meeting.
