Many people enjoyed the musical talents of the Kincardine Community Singers, featuring songs of Christmas, at their concerts on the weekend. Such talented singers and musicians, under the direction of Patt Lowry, with accompanist Liz Coates. It was a real treat to start off the holidays.

Lucknow's Carolfest at Kingsbridge Community Centre, Wednesday evening, was filled with beautiful Christmas music for the season! We have so much musical talent in our area and at this time of year, we enjoy it the most! A social time followed, with refreshments.

The Farrell family was “Jingling all the Way,” participating and attending the Holstein non-motorized Christmas parade, Saturday. You can check it out on the Holstein General Store Facebook page. There were 10 hitches in the parade plus many, many riders and walking entries! Thanks to the Holstein Parade committee for the chili, coffee and hot chocolate provided!

We extend our sympathy to the families of Harold Maurer and Peg Thuell, formerly of Huron Township.

Marilyn Reid hosted the Reid family Christmas gathering at her home on the weekend. It was a pleasure to attend the recital of Jo Reid's students held at the Kinlough Presbyterian Church.

Congratulations to the Ripley Business Community for a successful evening of shopping, Friday night.

Thanks, also, to the Ripley-Huron Legion for putting on another wing night. The food was great!

The Ripley and District Horticultural Society held its Christmas gathering at the Ripley-Huron Legion, Wednesday afternoon. The meal was catered by the ladies’ auxiliary and it was delicious! A fine time to catch up with the members of the society.

Eleven members and guests attended the Purple Grove Women's Institute December Christmas meeting at the home of Jim and Fran Farrell. Deanna Scott filled in as president. Local artist Sandra Husk instructed the ladies on a project done with Dot Art on Stone. The finished products showed that the group has some very talented and gifted ladies. Marilyn Reid filled in as convener, and the ladies shared some special Christmas songs. A bountiful lunch was provided by Janet Nixon and Marilyn Reid, and everyone enjoyed visiting. The Roll Call, “What Craft Would You Like to Learn,” brought forth a variety of answers, and the ladies hope to through on those crafts.

The Purple Grove Christmas Party will be held at the Purple Grove Community Centre, Friday, Dec. 15, with a potluck dinner at 6 p.m., followed by a Christmas concert. Come and share your talents with all your friends. Santa Claus will be attending with treats. For more information, contact Heather Finnie or Carrie Murray.

We hope everyone is able to check out all the Christmas decorations and light displays throughout the community. They fill us with hope and peace.
