NWMO donates lendable Launchpads to Bruce County Public Library
The Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) has donated 35 Launchpads to the Bruce County Public Library for patrons to borrow.
Launchpads are family-friendly tablets that offer various educational and recreational early learning content, making them a valuable resource for families and children seeking a safe and cost-free technical experience. The new tablets are designed with 100-per-cent security in mind and serve as lendable technology for library users.
The Bruce County Library is dedicated to supporting county communities with initiatives that contribute to the advancement and well-being of its residents.
“We are extremely grateful to the NWMO for its generosity, including this incredible donation of Launchpads,” said library director Brooke McLean. “This contribution perfectly aligns with our commitment to being a digital community connector. The Launchpads will enrich patrons’ library experiences by providing a new, diverse opportunity for learning.”
“The NWMO recognizes the need to increase access to technology and other important resources for the community,” said Nikole Hagerman, NWMO relationship manager, South Bruce. “We are proud to support diverse learning opportunities, especially for local youth.”
The NWMO is a not-for-profit organization responsible for designing and implementing Canada’s safe, long-term nuclear fuel management plan. It has actively supported the Bruce County Public Library as a significant contributor to the Bookmobile project, donating a Hydroponic Unit to the Seed Library and purchasing a 3D printer in the fall of 2020.
