Kincardine Bulldogs notch two wins, a tie and a loss in Junior league hockey action
The Kincardine Bulldogs are in third place in the North Pollock Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League, behind Mount Forest and Hanover, with a record of 14 wins, nine losses, one overtime loss and five ties.
The ‘Dogs notched two wins, a tie and a loss over the two weeks before Christmas.
Dec. 16, the Bulldogs tied Walkerton, 2-2; and Dec. 17, they downed Mitchell 4-1.
Friday, Dec. 22, they travelled to Mitchell and handed the Hawks another loss, 4-2.
Mitchell opened the scoring in the second period, and was up 2-0 before Kincardine’s Jordan Moulton scored from Liam Colhoun and Cooper Schneider to make it a 2-1 match.
The Bulldogs then roared ahead, scoring three goals in the third period to take the 4-2 win. Colhoun scored from Kyle Dolmage; and Gavin Downs and Trent Houghton each scored, unassisted.
Kincardine goalie Carter Garvie made 22 saves on 24 shots.
The ‘Dogs hosted the Hanover Barons, Saturday, Dec. 23, and ended up on the short end of a 5-2 score.
Kincardine opened the scoring early in the first on a goal by Tyler Wagler from Colhoun and Wilson Shipp. Hanover tied it up minutes later before Downs scored from Colhoun to give Kincardine a 2-1 lead. However, late in the period, Hanover tied it up to head into the second frame at 2-2.
The Barons then grabbed three unanswered goals in the second period, and neither team scored in the third, to end the game 5-2 for Hanover.
Kincardine goalie Rowen Cherrett made 34 saves on 39 shots.
The ‘Dogs travel to Goderich, Tuesday, Jan. 2, for a game against the Flyers at 7:30 p.m.
They return to the Davidson Centre, Saturday, Jan. 6, to face Hanover, at 7:30 p.m.; and they’re in Mount Forest, Sunday, Jan. 7.
