Kincardine’s 21 and 9 closes out 2023 with a bang
Kincardine-based rock band, 21 and 9, closed out a rockin’ 2023 with several major accomplishments.

The first was the album release party at Bar Down for the band’s 2nd release, entitled “Balloons,” a nine-track album that drew a sold-out crowd to the downtown establishment. This occasion also marked the fifth anniversary of Bar Down which has been a strong supporter of the band since its inception.

The album was recorded at Beach Road Studios with Juno award-winning producer Siegfried Meier and produced by Mike Abercrombie of Kincardine. The release of the album pushed the local band to more than 1,385 monthly followers on Spotify, no small feat for an unsigned band.

21 and 9’s sophomore release was also glowingly reviewed in Rrampt magazine, a culture company and bi-annual print magazine covering all of Grey, Bruce, and Simcoe counties.

Additionally, the band shot a music video for its popular first single from the new album, “We Could Give Up,” with JME Photography Studio, and Mike Abercrombie providing the video-editing. Look for the video to be released to YouTube and other video-streaming platforms early in 2024.

The band is now focused on booking larger festivals and releasing new material.
