Purple Grove news

We hope you were able to keep your vehicles out of the ditches. The January snows can be so dangerous. And for some of us, it was a good time to hibernate with a good book, a sewing project or woodworking project. It's also a good time to check on neighbours and friends when it gets stormy, which leads to a few cancellations for meetings, but better safe at home!

Thanks to Heather and Sam Finnie for the fun card party, Friday evening. Lots of good visiting and fun, and of course, the snacks weren't hard to take. See you Feb. 9.

Kerry Boyle of Toronto was up for the weekend and enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbours.

Mary Anne Kukoly enjoyed a good visit with Donna and Ken MacLeod recently.

We extend our sympathy to the family of Ken Houston of Harriston - many of us have some great memories of this fellow, a unique friend and ally who enjoyed working hard and playing hard. We also remember Bell Hackett of Lucknow and extend our sympathy to her family as well.

There are a few more folks we know who have had a birthday and are heading on their next trip around the sun! Happy birthday to Tracy Roberts, Gail Caslick, Debbie Taylor, Judi de Boer, Shirley Dewar, Jenny MacDonald, Derek Logtenberg and Jim Platten!

We are sorry some of our friends are not feeling well. We are thinking about you and hoping you are out and about soon.

This week is time for the full moon again. The January full moon is called the Wolf Moon as, apparently, that's when the wolves could be heard howling outside the village. It might be coyotes too, and maybe they're closer than you think!

Be kind this week. Everyone has something that he/she is dealing with, and you can't walk in anyone's shoes but your own! Helping someone else always benefits you too!
