Off the Broom – “Pajama Party” is theme for ladies bonspiel in Kincardine
Congratulations to the two Junior curling teams who participated in the Elementary Provincials held in the Staynor-Alliston area this past week. The “D” division team of Natalie, Claire, Tillie and Chuck (with an average age of nine) and the “A” division team of Madeline, Allison, Ethan and Cooper, shone in this competition. They played so well and made some fantastic shots. Although they were not the champions, they did themselves proud. Next year, the provincials will be held in Palmerston and these young curlers will be looking forward to another exciting and fun curling experience.
Kincardine Curling Club members Doug and Shelley Dechene with Alex and Lesley MacGregor, are participating in a bonspiel in Inverness, Scotland. This is the same bonspiel that the Shanes and Maxfields took part in a few years ago. The foursome is having a great time combining the curling with some sightseeing and visiting with friends.
Saturday, the ladies held their annual bonspiel. Cathy Alcombrack was again the organizer and sends her thanks to Dan Norman, Brian MacEachern and Pat Pringle, as well as all the other volunteers, for their help in running the spiel. The early draw was filled to eight teams and again the format was three six-end games. The three-game winner in the early draw was the Kincardine team of Barb Kester, Jen Lawrie, Carolyn Norman and Barb Ross who defeated the Kate Pringle team in the championship game. In order of finish, the remaining teams were Judy Watt, Lori Johnston, Marie Pringle, Pat Emmerton, Heather Struthers and Andrea Turcotte.

Mark your calendar for next year’s bonspiel which will be held March 1.
