The Ripley Wolves split weekend home games, defeating Shelburne, 8-5, Friday night, and falling 5-1 to Saugeen Shores Saturday.
Friday, a wild first period saw the Wolves leading 3-2 as the first buzzer sounded. Goals were scored by Derek Regier, Dylan Sayle and Drew Davidson. Assists went to Tyler deVos, Shawn Stewart, Ryan Dudgeon, Paul Stewart, Jordan Cale and Blair Pollock.
The second period saw another five goals, this time with Shelburne outscoring the Wolves by a goal to end the period in a 5-5 tie. Wolves scorers were Brett Catto and Davidson, with assists going to Cody Britton, Davidson, Catto and Dudgeon.
The Wolves pulled away in the third with three goals, including an empty-netter, to secure the 8-5 win for goalie Mitch Campbell who stopped 22 shots on the night. Scoring in the third were Catto, Tyler McCarthy and Tyson Soers. Assists went to Britton (2), Alex MacLeod, Shawn Stewart and Davidson.
Saturday night, the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks repaid the Wolves for a loss earlier in the season by handing the home team a 5-1 loss.
The only Wolves goal came late in the game on a powerplay and was scored by Catto from Britton and Davidson.
Campbell stopped 29 shots in the loss, while the Wolves threw three shots at the Saugeen Shores net.
The Wolves travel to Durham this Saturday for a 5 p.m. start. They’ll be in Lucknow Saturday, Nov. 28, at 7:30 p.m., and return home Saturday, Dec. 5, to host Shelburne.
Meanwhile, the previous weekend, the Wolves suffered back-to-back losses to Shallow Lake and Durham
The Wolves faced Shallow Lake Saturday night and lost, 7-5.
Ripley was down 4-0 but kept closing the gap to two, only to give up yet another goal, and eventually the game was out of reach.
Goal scorers were Ryan Armstong, Drew Davidson, Shawn Stewart, Brian Stanley and Tyler McCarthy. Assists went to Davidson (2), Stanley, Armstrong, Dustin Catto and Dylan Sayle.
Jamie Bailey started for the Wolves but was replaced by veteran Kurt Edwards, who came out of his brief retirement just prior to the game.
Friday night, Ripley lost 4-3 to Durham. Scoring for the Wolves were Jarred Colling, Ryan Fry and Cody Britton. Assists went to Tyson Soers, Ryan Armstrong, Jeremy McQuillin and Dylan Sayle.
Jamie Bailey stopped 36 shots in the loss.
