St. Anthony’s student taking project to Canada-Wide Science Fair

Oscar Weerasinghe of St. Anthony’s School in Kincardine, is joining five other students from Bruce and Grey counties, as they represent Team Bluewater at the 2024 Canada-Wide Science Fair, May 25 to June 1, at Carleton University in Ottawa.

The following students were selected from more than 100 projects at the senior Bluewater Regional Science and Technology Fair, held Wednesday, April 3, in Owen Sound:
 

• Oscar Weerasinghe, St. Anthony’s School, “Breakfast on the Brain”
• Emily Caulfeild, St. Mary’s High School, “Diving Into Social Behaviours of Fish”
• Charlotte Woodhouse, St. Mary’s High School, “How Inbreeding Levels Affect Fertility in Holsteins”
• Chayle Oatts, St. Mary’s High School, “Fertilizer Growth”
• Lucas Muir, Hepworth Central Public School, “Hydro Harvest”
• Kenna Wilson, Hepworth Central Public School, "Body Temperature"

At the national science fair, more than 400 students from across Canada will be competing for almost $1-million worth of awards and scholarships, including trips to international competitions and the coveted title of being Canada’s Top Young Scientist.
