Purple Grove news

We're glad everyone's hydro is back on after Friday's wind storm and the damages won't be too bad. For sure, the weather is always changing and makes for some interesting adventures and stories to tell! It's good to have some emergency plans to keep everyone safe and those neighbours to help each other out.

Our community extends sympathy and grieves with the family of Blain Carruthers who died recently. Another committed and caring man who leaves many wonderful memories for us to share and celebrate.

Guess we rushed Don Simpson into his seventh decade - that's happening this week!

If you like maple syrup and pancakes and, of course, the fun that goes with that, there are maple syrup festivals to attend. Lots of people went to the Belmore Maple Syrup Festival or Maplefest in Holstein last weekend! It's always a great time to meet up with people and enjoy one of the best things about spring!

It's Volunteer Appreciation Week, April 14-20. Whether you serve on the executive or just show up and help whenever needed, know that when you help someone else, you actually help yourself too. Thank you to all the volunteers in our community!

RIPLEY AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY

We thank all of our volunteers for their hard work! A volunteer appreciation lunch will be held June 2 at Noon, at the Ripley-Huron Legion. Burgers will be served! From planning and organizing to set-up/take-down, gates volunteers, ticket-selling, and everyone in-between, we appreciate all of you! Please RSVP to Kennydi at 519-441-3559 by May 19. This event is open to all past volunteers from 2023; if you’re interested in volunteering, feel free to come check it out!

We are also having a Fish Fry again, Sunday, May 12, and pick-up is at the Ripley Agricultural Society Building. Take-out tickets are $ 27 each; available from Pollock Electric or society directors, until May 4. This is a fund-raiser for the Grade 7 trip to the Royal Winter Fair.
