Somerhill Golf Club welcomes crowd to open house
Owner Brad Mackay and his staff welcomed a good crowd to the open house, held Saturday afternoon, April 13, at Somerhill Golf Club, located on Highway 21 between Kincardine and Tiverton.
The nine-hole golf course actually opened Monday, April 8, but everyone was encouraged to come and check out the greens, purchase a membership and enjoy some refreshments.
While the power was out in Kincardine, the lights were on at Somerhill and the clubhouse was warm as people enjoyed the ambience. Outside, it was chilly but several golfers were up for a round. They noted that they were thankful you don’t need hydro to golf!
Somerhill is a popular course with tourists and residents, alike. The nine holes lie in a scenic, rolling terrain on the shores of Lake Huron, and you are treated to some wonderful views during your round. The plush fairways and greens are always in excellent condition.
From the championship tees, the course measures 5,700 yards, long enough to challenge the best golfers. The large number of water hazards in play throughout the course make it uniquely-challenging, meaning you can never afford to sit back and lose focus.
Somerhill has a licensed clubhouse, small banquet facility, carts, membership fees, and a putting range. There are tournaments and special events, as well as league play, including Tuesday Men’s Night, Thursday Ladies’ Day, and Wednesday for E.S. Fox.
The course offers special deals, such as a 13-pack – purchase 10 greens fees and get 13.
