​Kincardine Good Food Box program breaking records this month

The Kincardine Good Food Box program is breaking records this month, distributing a total of 222 boxes of fresh produce, tomorrow (Thursday, April 25).

“Happily, our faithful and energetic volunteers will be joined by 14 Bruce Power workers who are devoting their training day to helping their neighbours,” says Wendy Cox, co-ordinator of the program, with Shirley Steele. “They will arrive around 7:45 a.m. since our produce truck is due around 8 a.m.”

Of the total, 181 boxes are for Kincardine, 17 will go north to Tiverton and 24 will go south to Ripley, said Cox.

The Ripley division of the Neighbour-to-Neighbour initiative (which distributes boxes free of charge, where needed) is generously supported by a grant from the Township of Huron-Kinloss, the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 440 (Ripley-Huron), and the Ripley Lions Club.

Similarly, in Kincardine, this initiative has, so far this year, received support from the Kincardine Lions Club, Knox Presbyterian Church in Kincardine, the Kincardine United Church, and a generous neighbour.
