Purple Grove news

We extend our sympathy to the family of Carol Bogaert, formerly of Kincardine, who recently passed away in hospice in Barrie. Our thoughts and prayers are with many other families in our communities who are grieving at this time.

Congratulations to the organizers of Roots of Bruce which was held April 18-19 in Walkerton! Since April, 1995, more than 20,000 students in Bruce and Grey counties have attended these agricultural sessions to learn about the agriculture industry in our counties. Roots of Bruce has a new logo designed by Addison MacDermid of St. Joseph Catholic School in Port Elgin.

Some of our community members are in hospital and recovering at home and we sure hope you get well soon so you can be out and about again!

A good crowd appreciated and enjoyed the Steak Dinner hosted by the Ripley-Huron Legion, Saturday.

The Logtenberg family had its Easter gathering at the Dungannon Agricultural Hall, Saturday. We also had a wedding shower for Daniel Burmaster and Kallie Tenthorey who will be married in June. It was great to see some of the cousins again!

Happy Birthday to Kelsey Thompson and to Stefani Simpson this week.

A good crowd was at the Blyth Theatre, Friday evening, to enjoy the Lightfoot Band! The band members, Rick Haynes, Barry Keane, Michael Heffernan, Carter Lancaster and Andy Mauck, on vocals and guitar, are performing the music of Gordon Lightfoot. There are more concerts in May in Oshawa and Owen Sound.

Our May 8 Purple Grove Women’s Institute Tweedsmuir History meeting at the Grove has been postponed to another date. The District Annual will be in Chesley, May 23.

RIPLEY AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY

You'll want to get your tickets for the Ripley Agricultural Society Take-out Fish Fry, May 12. Contact a director or pick them up at Pollock Electric by May 4. We’ll be selling can koozies at this event as well. All proceeds will be donated to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation, to go toward the Kincardine Hospital Redevelopment.

Can’t make it to the fish fry? No worries! We will also have them for sale at other events leading up to the fair, as well as the refreshment tent at the fair! Also, if you plan to attend the Volunteer Appreciation Lunch, June 2, please RSVP Kennydi by May 19.
