South Bruce Grey Health Centre to host webinar about Durham hospital, May 14

The South Bruce Grey Health Centre will host a community webinar, Tuesday, May 14, to answer questions about the Durham hospital site. The health centre also operates hospitals in Kincardine, Walkerton and Chesley.

Recently, the health centre announced the decision to transition 10 inpatient beds, currently at the Durham site, to the Kincardine and Walkerton sites, effective June 3. This is due to a critical shortage of staff which is anticipated to intensify during the summer season.

In a press release, issued Wednesday, the health centre states that relocating these beds allows it to protect access to urgent and emergent services at the Durham site.

“We know that many of you have questions about the movement of the inpatient beds and we want to hear from you directly,” states the release. “May 14, we will be hosting a community webinar with our president and chief executive officer, Nancy Shaw, as well as our leadership team, to answer as many of your questions as possible.”

Community members can join on-line or by phoning in. The public can submit questions in advance to communications@sbghc.on.ca. The health centre will do its best to address all questions submitted in advance and received during the event.
