​McHappy Day in Kincardine raises almost $17,000 for Ronald McDonald House

It was a chilly Wednesday, with the threat of rain, as organizers hosted the annual McHappy Day at McDonald’s Restaurant in Kincardine.

Local celebrities and volunteers assisted throughout the day, handing out food at the drive-thru, working the counter, and assisting with the activities on the patio.

Organizer Lynn Reilly was grateful for the support from the community as the event raised $16,718 for Ronald McDonald House in London, which provides a home for families with seriously-ill children who must leave their own homes in order to seek medical treatment.

The annual national fund-raiser sees a portion of all sales at McDonald’s on McHappy Day, donated to the cause.

In Kincardine, the event included a wheel of prizes, 50-50 draw, raffle, and book sale. There was also a yard sale, held Saturday, May 4, with all proceeds going to McHappy Day.
