Secord Monument should be back where it belongs, say readers

RE: “Missing …”
As a life-long Kincardine resident for all my 78 years, I agree with Lynn Farrell as to the placement of the Dr. Solomon Secord Monument.
I have been told it can’t go back where it was because there is no room for it.
That is strange as the Kincardine Library has not changed positions nor been added to.
The former post office building has not been moved, and the monument is the same size, so why is there no room for it?
Explain why the large flat concrete area in front of the library was put there if not for the monument? I have been told, on good authority, that it was put there for the monument!
I have been trying to get a low spot on the street in front of my house (where water lies) fixed for close to 10 years now. I keep asking but have yet to see anything done with it!
The monument takes priority! It certainly will not take $15,000 to fix the problem on my street.
You can’t change history by removing the monument.
Kincardine citizens paid for it and it should be back where it belongs, and has been for years and years!

So, I’m wondering what’s next?
Will it be the Davidson Centre, Dunsmoor Park, the Charles Mann plaque, Victoria Park, Queen Street, on and on and on.
Enough said, enough money and energy spent on something that has been decided using best judgement un a woke.
The return of the Secord Monument to its rightful place was contractually paid for as part of the Main (Queen) Street upgrades.
Overseeing a municipality is tough, especially when you wander into concerns that have little to no need for concern.
Like a great catcher once reportedly said, “A nickel isn’t worth a dime anymore.”
