Re-imagined?
To the Editor:
The Municipality of Kincardine is now going to re-imagine Victoria Park.
I believe council has done enough re-imagining. Three or four years ago, it re-imagined Dunsmoor Park. One-third of the park has been paved and the place looks like weed city.
Council also took a go at Macpherson Park – paving the boulevard on Lambton Street adjacent to the lawn bowling pitch and the trail into the lawn bowling club house. Perhaps council has never heard of climate change.
Last summer, Queen Street (downtown Kincardine’s main street) was re-imagined – a sundial in memory of Dr. Solomon Secord in front of the library was replaced by two circular slabs of concrete. A $15,000 contract to study the situation has been let.
This past winter, a new, expensive plan was unveiled for the lakefront in Kincardine. It suggests that the boardwalk be moved further east.
Meanwhile, the parks in Kincardine continue to deteriorate.
Instead of spending money on consultants, the municipality should put some tender loving care into the upkeep of its parks and other facilities which are terribly neglected.
