Magnificent quilts on display at Victoria Park Gallery for month of June
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Kincardine Sunset Quilters’ Guild and in commemoration of that milestone, guild members were given a special challenge.
The beautiful and colourful creations, as a result of that challenge, are now hanging in the guest gallery at Victoria Park Gallery in downtown Kincardine, throughout the month of June.
The following guidelines were given to guild members for the anniversary challenge:
- Your quilt needs to have some relation to “30.” For example, 30 blocks, 30 inches wide, 30 different fabrics, 1930s fabric, 30 degrees above or below zero, etc.
- It must be a quilt, technically defined as two layers of fabric with a filler/batting and stitching holding the layers together.
- A piece of emerald green fabric is included in the challenge kit and must be used on the front of the quilt. The fabric is Kona Emerald – K001-1135. You may use as many fabrics as you wish.
- This challenge is open to all guild members so get your creative juices flowing and let’s see what our 30th anniversary means to you.
The public is welcome to view the many magnificent quilts on display.
