Two Kincardine-area lawyers and their band, “Franks ‘n Beans,” are joining the local doctors and other musicians in the entertainment line-up for Rock With Your Docs, set for Friday, June 21, at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine.

The event is in support of the capital campaign at the Kincardine hospital.

Aaron Murray and James Leone have law offices in Toronto, Collingwood and Southampton, and do legal work in Thornbury and Haliburton. Also, a friend of Murray’s was general counsel at Bruce Power. So, they are familiar with the area and do a fair amount of business here as personal injury lawyers.

Since they like to focus their business on small communities and under-serviced areas, they like to support those communities. Hence, they are teaming up with the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation and the local doctors to take part in Rock With Your Docs.

Murray plays keyboard, while Leone plays guitar in the band they formed 10 years ago. Joining them, are Jon Abrams on bass, Corby Fine on drums, and vocalist Logan Cooper. They play funk-soul music, reworking familiar rock tunes to suit their sound.

“We enjoy doing fund-raisers, particularly in smaller communities,” said Murray. “The band is my passion. I did my undergrad in jazz piano performance. Then, I went to law school. The performance background is very helpful as a lawyer in the courtroom!”

The band’s name, “Franks ‘n Beans” was the inspiration of their bass player.

Both Murray and Leone are married with children. They used to belong to a larger firm but Leone left to begin his own firm, and Murray joined him.

“Now, we work together and we play in the band together,” said Leone.

Not only are the lawyers performing at Rock With Your Docs, they are also sponsoring the event, with a significant donation to the foundation, and providing two sets of Blue Jays tickets for the live auction.

Tickets for Rock With Your Docs are $60 each; available at McKechnie Pharmacy, the Kincardine medical clinic, Grey Matter, MicroAge Basics, and on-line at Event Brite. Check the event website, at www.rockwithyourdocs.ca, for the line-up of bands for the night and a link to buy tickets.
