Purple Grove news
Wow, what an unexpected change in weather, almost like living in the tropics without the view! Hope everyone is checking in on family members, friends and neighbours, making sure they are doing okay in this heat wave, as well taking all the precautions ourselves to keep cool and hydrated. Oh yes, and don't forget our animals.

Regardless of the heat, the RCMP Musical Ride was slated to run Wednesday night, June 19, as planned, with the Super Dogs pre-show beforehand, at the Teeswater Fairgrounds. The next RCMP Musical Ride is scheduled to be held in Clinton.

On the weekend, Lucknow wowed and entertained the huge crowd with the annual car, lawn tractor and combine demolition derby, formerly held at the Dungannon Fair Grounds but now located at Graceland, home of Music in the Fields. Got to give those combine drivers credit in their driving, strategy and determination to win. It was a good rocking, roaring, laughing view, seeing them duel it out to the finish. Congratulations to all the winning drivers. See you again next year!

Coming up this weekend is the barbecue at St. Andrew's United Church in Ripley. There still is time to purchase tickets for that; you won't be disappointed.

Purple Grove’s very own Dr. Jason Murray will be performing with his band, "Local Anesthesia," at the Rock With Your Docs event in Kincardine, Friday night, as a fund-raiser for the Kincardine Hospital. Tickets are still available from Paul and Carrie Murray or Sam and Heather Finnie.

Big birthday wishes go out to Carolyn Farrell, Mary Stanley-Beitz, Todd Thompson, Spencer Finnie and Sarah Finnie.

Congratulations to Nathan and Kelsey Beer on their fifth wedding anniversary (they reside on the former Roger and Wendy Smith farm).

And congratulations to Laura Irwin and Matt Courtney on the birth of their daughter, Annabelle Margaret, June 15. Brother Brett is very excited to have a new sister.

Mary Anne Kukoly enjoyed a family gathering with Barb and Jamie McEwan, Marion and Ken McEwan and Sandy McEwan, recently in Stratford.

Our thoughts and prayers are extended to the family of Helen Irwin, as well as others who are experiencing the loss of loved ones.

Harvey and Bren de Leeuw of Kincardine enjoyed Father's Day festivities at the farm of Becca and Thomas Farrell and family, and visited with Brian, Christine and Joseph Bridge of the Southline, and with Sandy and Sasha Bridge and family of Kincardine.

Here's to all those wonderful fathers and grandfathers; you are all to be honoured and celebrated.

Get well wishes are sent to those who are under the weather; wishing a speedy recovery to one and all.
