Donations, recognition for Kincardine and Ripley firefighters, and hospital foundation
The past week has been a good one for the Kincardine and Ripley firefighters, and the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation.

Wednesday, representatives of Trillium Mutual Insurance were at the Kincardine Fire Department, presenting a cheque for $4,000.

The donation, through the ROOTS (Recognizing Our Opportunity To Support) Community Fund, will be used to replace and enhance the department’s water rescue services through the purchase of additional water survival suits, personal flotation devices for firefighters, water rescue rope and ice rescue equipment.

Meanwhile, in Ripley, awards were given out to members of the Ripley-Huron Fire Department for Exemplary Service:

  • Doug Martyn, 30 years
  • Ed McGillivray, 20 years
  • Ken Fischer, 20 years
  • Scott Martyn, 20 years
  • Brian Pollock, 30 year
  • Joseph Hodgins, 30 years
  • Jeff Pollard, 20 years

And finally, Trillium Mutual Insurance presented the Kincardine hospital foundation with a cheque for $5,000, through the Trillium ROOTS community fund which was established to support programs committed to the sustainability of rural Ontario.

The funding will be applied to the purchase of an Ultrasound Machine ($203,780). The present machine is at its ‘end of life’ and is no longer eligible for service. Kincardine is at risk of losing this service in the hospital if this item is not purchased this year.
