Kincardine Legion Corner

Most people know that the Legion recently had some kitchen upgrades done. We now offer hot lunches between Noon and 2 p.m., Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The menu includes fish and chips, hamburgers and fries, as well as chicken schnitzel on a bun, which seems to be extremely popular with our lunchtime diners. If you haven’t had a chance to try ‘Lunch at the Legion’ yet, we hope you can drop by some day soon.

To ‘catch’ you up on our Catch the Ace, the amounts are still being tallied. Please stay tuned to see where your ticket money will be given out locally in the community. The membership and executive are taking great care to make sure we donate the funds wisely, in order to have a real impact in our community. We hope to announce more details soon.

Kim McElroy took home $223.50 in the 50/50 draw and Shannon Allen was a double-dipper at the Saturday Meat Draw. As a reminder, tickets go on sale at 2:30 p.m., with the first draw at 3 p.m. The 50/50 is drawn at 5 p.m.

Canada Day is almost here and we are hoping for some great weather, Monday. Plan to come to the Legion and enjoy some food and drink on the patio while listening to music by HWY 19. The Legion is open from Noon until dusk, and we will have a 50/50 draw that will be drawn at 6 p.m. The food menu includes hot dogs, hamburgers, schnitzel on a bun, as well as fresh cut fries. We hope to see you there!

Saturday, July 13, we have our Legion Blues Festival, with food, refreshment and good music. This event is free. The doors open at Noon, with music beginning at 1 p.m. Featured, are The Stevie T Band, Bayou Boys, Mike Branton Trio and Beggars Banquet.

As I close out this week, and the month of June, I send a thank you to the Royal Canadian Legion National Headquarters for sharing some social media posts for Pride Month and for National Indigenous Peoples Day, June 21, as part of National Indigenous History Month.
