Grey Roots Museum theatre gets upgrades, thanks to Wheildon Investments Inc.

The theatre at the Grey Roots Museum and Archives, just outside Owen Sound, will be getting some upgrades, thanks to the sponsorship of Thomas Wheildon and Wheildon Investments Inc.

The company, which operates Fairmount Security Services, will contribute $50,000 to the museum, over the next five years, and the facility will be known as the Thomas Wheildon Theatre though 2034.

The three-year improvement plan for the theatre identifies the most critical work which will be done in phases. The top priorities include replacing an obsolete projector, improving stage lighting, and reducing fan noise in the control booth.

Once complete, the theatre upgrades will result in improved stage lighting, wider applications for audio and lighting control, crisper and brighter projections, and interactive video conferencing and event capability, among other improvements.

Wheildon is a strong supporter of the Grey Roots Museum and was an integral part in creating a replica of the Arnott General Store, which was owned and operated by his grandparents, Richard and Jessie Wheildon. The general store was opened last summer at the Moreston Heritage Village at the museum.
