Kincardine Legion Corner

The Kincardine Legion presented a couple of community donations this week to invest in Kincardine youth. The first donation was $2,500 to the Kincardine Football Association to help fund and support its programs.

The second donation was $1,000 to Kincardine Minor Baseball, to help support the baseball camp and other youth programs. Dropping into the Legion to help accept the donation, were former New York Yankee and Toronto Blue Jay Homer Bush, who was the head instructor at the baseball camp, and Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb who organizes the camp every year.

The Saturday Meat Draw had Ross Dodman as the double-dipper and Lori Macdonald won $151 in the 50/50 draw. Remember, there will be no Meat Draw this Saturday, July 13, as this is the Legion Blues Celebration. This celebration is free and the doors open at Noon. Music begins at 1 p.m. with performances by four different groups, including The Stevie T Band, Bayou Boys, Mike Branton Trio and Beggars Banquet. There will be food and drinks for sale as well, so plan to drop by.

Sign-up is now under way for Trivia Night, July 19, so reserve a spot for your team. If you would like to look ahead and do some planning with your Trivia Team, here are the upcoming dates - Sept. 6, Oct. 11, Nov. 8 and Dec. 6. To clarify, there is no Trivia Night in August.

The next Family Dinner will be held Sunday, July 28, and menu details will be forthcoming. Follow the Legion’s Facebook page for details.

Remember that 183 Eats is open for lunch from Noon to 2 p.m., Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The menu is consistent but sometimes there are unique specials and those are posted on the Facebook page as well.
