Local groups helping those needing laundry services after Kincardine Laundromat fire
Local social service agencies are working together to support access to laundry services, in the wake of the Kincardine Laundromat fire, at 330 Durham Market Square South, July 6.
Thankfully there were no injuries from the fire but there are, and will continue to be, impacts on the owner, businesses, and residents, due to the damage to the services located in this building.
In a press release, issued Wednesday, the United Way of Bruce Grey is urging residents and visitors who need laundry services to call 211 to find the nearest service available.
The 211 line is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week or you can reach it on-line at:
brucegreycommunityinfo.cioc.ca/. If transportation is a barrier, call 211 and convey this information and the operator will track the issues and try to find resources to help.
The United Way has set up an information page on its website, available through
www.kincardinelaundry.ca
The agency and the Kincardine Food Bank are partnering to raise funds to meet the needs of residents who are challenged by the loss of this resource. People can donate directly to the food bank, noting “laundry” as part of their donation, or through the United Way’s CanadaHelps portal, available at
www.kincardinelaundry.ca.
Community partners include the United Way of Bruce Grey, Canadian Mental Health Association, the Kincardine Food Bank, Bruce County, the Kincardine Good Food Box, St, Vincent de Paul, 211, the Kincardine and District Chamber of Commerce, Shoreline Classics Radio FM, and the Kincardine Business Improvement Area (BIA).
