Motorized scooter parking now at Kincardine hospital
In an effort to improve accessibility for patients and visitors, the South Bruce Grey Health Centre has designated an area at the entrance to the Kincardine hospital site for motorized scooter parking.
The need for scooter parking area was identified by Bruce Edwards, a member of the Kincardine community, who uses a motorized scooter. After raising the issue to the health centre in the spring, Edwards was engaged several times to discuss the matter and a plan to address the accessibility issue was developed.
With the financial support of the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation, four scooter parking spots have been created at the entrance to the building, allowing for easy access for patients and visitors who use mobility scooters.
The need for designated scooter parking areas is being assessed at the health centre’s other three sites in Chesley, Durham and Walkerton.
