​Kincardine hospital foundation volunteers matching donations on Giving Cruise Day

For one night only, the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation is hoping classic car buffs will help with the mission to raise $18-million for the Kincardine Hospital capital campaign, by donating at Cruise Night in downtown Kincardine, Friday, Aug. 2.

Donations made any time that day will be matched, up to $25,000, by the generosity of the foundation volunteers who are leading by example.

Media personality Dennis Gage will be the Grand Marshall at the event, hosted by the Municipality of Kincardine, along with many community partners and sponsors.

With more than 600 vehicles expected, this special Cruise Night will see the downtown full of unique cars, trucks and motorcycles, as well as their owners and the community.

Gage hosts “My Classic Car,” a television show about classic automobiles, and is known for his trademark handlebar moustache and the catchphrase with which he ends every episode, "Honour the timeless classics." Steve Plunkett, a well-known car collector, is sponsoring Gage’s visit in support of the foundation fund-raising.

“This will be a very special Cruise Night,” says Jack Nancekivell, foundation member and antique car owner. “It’s an opportunity to see some amazing vehicles, but also support our local hospital, and you get to see your donation doubled by our own foundation volunteers.”

“Not only will the foundation run its traditional and highly-popular 50/50 draw,” says president Becky Fair, “but we’ll have a one-time opportunity to double all donations made that day. I challenge the community to donate $25,000 so we can turn that into $50,000 in one night!”

Donations can be made at the foundation table located in front of the HuronTel building during the car show or any time Aug. 2 on-line at www.kincardinefoundation.ca.

The foundation has gathered a team of volunteers, led by co-chairpersons Kathryn Freimanis and Graham Mahood, and includes current and retired health-care workers, business people, and interested community members. These ambassadors are reaching out to families, community groups and businesses to successfully complete the “Building Health Care for Generations” campaign.
