Golf tournament raises $21,000 for Kincardine Community Living
Community Living of Kincardine and District raised about $21,233 at the 16th annual Charity Golf Classic held Friday, July 19, at Ainsdale Golf Course.
This far exceeded the $15,000 goal and organizers are incredibly thankful to the many community sponsors, golfers, title sponsor 2M Power, and change-maker sponsor NPX, for their support and generosity.
The event drew 80 golfers for a glorious round of play under a sunny sky. There was also a silent auction for participants to place their bids and take home some great prizes.
And golfers were given the option to purchase “Throw a Grenade” cards for $5 each when they registered. This meant that if they had a bad lie or hated to putt, they could pick up the ball and throw it!
“This tournament is our largest fund-raising event and we rely on funds generated here to help satisfy our most immediate needs,” said Catherine Evans, communication and marketing co-ordinator for Kincardine Community Living.
“Over the past 16 years, this event has helped develop greater independence for the people we support, through social and life-skill building, job readiness, employment, and so much more.
“This year, funds raised will go toward the purchase of a generator for the Saratoga home to ensure uninterrupted power for important medical equipment and mobility devices during power outages.”
