Local charity seeks volunteers as Meals on Wheels expands in Kincardine
Home and Community Support Services Grey-Bruce, a dedicated not-for-profit agency and charity, has announced the expansion of its Meals on Wheels program in Kincardine. Due to a recent increase in demand, a second delivery route is being added to better serve seniors and adults with disabilities in the area.
This expansion is a positive development for the community, highlighting the growing need for essential support services, states a press release, issued Wednesday. The Meals on Wheels program is vital in helping seniors and adults with disabilities maintain their independence by providing them with hot, nutritious meals delivered directly to their homes.
To successfully manage the new route, the agency is seeking volunteers to help with deliveries, particularly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Volunteers will receive mileage reimbursement at a rate of 55 cents per kilometre or $7.50 for rides less than 14 kilometres, making this opportunity both rewarding and financially supportive.
Volunteers will be provided with training and support, and their involvement will be key in ensuring that more residents of Kincardine can enjoy the benefits of regular, healthy meals while maintaining their independence.
