The Ripley Christmas Store opened its doors Nov. 17 in the former Village Flower Shop in downtown Ripley and has seen a steady stream of Christmas shoppers ever since.
Organizer Diane McCulloch is excited by the enthusiastic response from vendors and customers, alike.
The store contains an amazing variety of unique items that are produced locally by people passionate about their handiwork. You will find original paintings, photography, Christmas wreaths, cards, needlework, metalwork, glasswork, woodwork, jewellery, painted stones, food in jars, chocolate, etc.
The venture is a co-operative, run by the vendors, but McCulloch spends much of her time there.
Inside the store, is a spirit of joy in this community endeavour, and it’s great to see the otherwise empty building on the corner of Queen and Huron Streets now filled with Christmas cheer.
It is a cash-only business, but the Royal Bank ATM machine is right across the street. Every $10 spent will be punched on the Lucknow and Ripley Holiday Shopping Pass which will be entered into a draw once completed.
Store hours are Monday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., now until Dec. 24. However, you may want to check it out sooner than later as items are selling fast. Accessible entrance at the side on Huron Street.
This holiday season, shop locally at the Ripley Christmas Store.
