Kincardine Community Living receives donation from 100 People Who Share

August 3, 2024

The 100 People Who Share Bruce County met Monday night (July 29) at Ainsdale Golf Course, and the final vote was to make the donation to Community Living of Kincardine and District.

Initially, the group heard from April’s recipient, the Alzheimer Society Grey Bruce, which received $10,850, to put toward a new Kincardine initiative.

The three nominees for July: the Pine River Watershed Initiative Network, Huron Heights Public School outside classroom, and Community Living of Kincardine and District, made their presentations, followed by the vote.

Kincardine Community Living plans to use the funds to support the establishment of intentional, community-based networks of people, addressing concerns of isolation, loneliness, and support for people aged 55-plus, who are naturally connected.

This builds on knowledge gleaned through a small Ontario Trillium Foundation grant that resulted in identifying that relationships and community are critical and do not ‘just happen.’

Through local research and feedback collected, Kincardine Community Living was identified as an agency that is well-positioned to provide education, facilitated activities and mentorship that could re-establish a culture of neighbour supporting neighbour, as in the past.

This cost-efficient approach will assist community members and their caregivers in creating Networks with Purpose, to maintain independence, well-being, and connection among people aged 55-plus, and their caregivers.

The 100 People Who Share Bruce County will hold the final meeting for this year, Monday, Oct. 28, at Ainsdale Golf Course.

100 people - one hour - $10,000 - immediate local impact. It’s that simple; it’s that easy.
