Sarah (Howald) Hodges (above) is the new female hockey co-ordinator at Athol Murray College of Notre Dame in Wilcox, Saskatchewan.
An alumna of Notre Dame, she most recently served as the founder and head coach of women’s hockey at the University of Regina.
The selection of Hodges comes after an extensive search for the best coach to build on the strong foundation and rich tradition of excellence in female hockey at Notre Dame.
“She brings the perfect blend of experience, professionalism, and passion to Notre Dame,” said Wade Klippenstein, director of hockey development at the school. “Our student-athletes will immediately benefit from her strong history with the game of hockey and the boarding school lifestyle.”
Hodges had an outstanding career as a student athlete at Notre Dame and followed that with an award-winning career at Dartmouth University, earning all-Ivy designations in both hockey and track and field.
Following her playing career, she served as the first head coach for the University of Regina and has coached provincial and national women’s hockey teams, including coaching the Canadian U18 Woman’s team.
Hodges is the daughter of Eric and Dana Howald of Kincardine.
