Huron County OPP investigating fatality in Goderich

GODERICH, ON) – Monday, Sept. 16, just after 10:30 a.m., the Huron County OPP, along with Huron County Paramedic Services and the Goderich Fire Department, responded to the intersection of Blake Street East and Gibbons Street in Goderich, after receiving a 9-1-1 call about a collision between a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and a mobility scooter.
Upon arrival, emergency services discovered that the operator of the electric mobility scooter, a 91-year-old resident of Goderich, was seriously injured. The individual was transported by ambulance to a local hospital and was later pronounced deceased.
Members of the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team attended the scene to assist with the collision investigation. Sections of Blake Street and Gibbons Street are currently closed for the investigation and will remain closed for several hours.
The investigation is ongoing, and the cause of the collision is being investigated.
