Beautiful starry night for A Walk to Bethlehem in Tiverton
Saturday night, Nov. 28, was a beautiful starry evening for people to enjoy the inaugural "A Walk to Bethlehem" at the Tiverton Walk of Memories. The event was also held in the sunshine, Sunday afternoon, Nov. 29.
Organized by Knox Presbyterian Church in Tiverton, St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Glammis, the Tiverton Baptist Church, Chalmers Community Church, and the Tiverton Masons, the walk welcomed a good crowd to follow the footsteps that Joseph and Mary took from Nazareth to Bethlehem, the night Jesus was born. The story is based on the Gospels of Luke and Matthew.
The walk included several vignettes, beginning with the Angel Gabriel talking to Mary, followed by the Angel talking to Joseph, the Shepherds, the Wisemen, Mary and Joseph walking the 80 miles to Bethlehem, No Room at the Inn, and then the Birth of Jesus and the Nativity Scene.
The event was beautifully done, complete with lights, music and live action figures. It was also inspiring as it depicted the hope, peace, joy and love of the season for those who believe in Jesus.
