Singing telegram brightens final Kincardine council meeting of 2015
It was a bright start to the final Kincardine council meeting of 2015, last night (Dec. 9), at the municipal administrative centre.

Hired by councillor Laura Haight, members of the Kincardine Theatre Guild arrived in fancy outfits and Christmas hats, to bring a bit of seasonal good cheer to the council table.

To the tune of "Let it Snow," the choir sang about all the happenings, or lack thereof, throughout 2015. The singing telegram is as follows:

Well this year has been quite boring
No issues with councillors warring
So it's hard to be critical in song
When you all seem to just get along

But Laura hired us to wish you well
As it seems she does year after year
Other years we've had more tales to tell
But today you have far less to fear.

Well, the sewer debate is over
With a deal that's sweet as Clover,
But there's still one more problem to face
Where to bury our nuclear waste?

Natural gas is finally coming our way
Marijuana's our new healing herb
And the arts centre's well on the way - THANK YOU!
But you kicked PREDC out to the curb!

Windmills still are a topic grievous
And we're helpless as doctors leave us
Eastlink's bid flew away in the breeze
Winter cold caused our pipes all to freeze

But Laura sends her best wishes to all
With your days full of great Christmas cheer
As for us, we have all had a ball
Now we're done and it's time for a beer.

Council appreciated the warm tribute and at the end of the meeting, wished everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Bringing a cheery Christmas singing telegram to Kincardine council last night, are members of the Kincardine Theatre Guild, Andy French (L), Sandy Nelson, Sid Duggan, Jaki Mayer-Duggan, Silvia Berg, Sandy Blackwood, Shirley Bieman, Melinda Smegal, Janice Griffith, Marilyn Clarke and Bonnie Bryan
