The Ace of Spades remains in play! Eric Howald of Kincardine won $1,709 in the Catch the Ace draw. He selected Envelope No. 16 which contained the Six of Clubs. By next Wednesday's draw, the progressive jackpot is estimated to $28,000, so be sure to get your tickets!

At the Saturday Meat Draw, Charles Samms was the double-dipper, and the winner of the 50/50 draw was Sheila McGhee who took home $140. Congratulations to all the winners.

The Legion Poppy Campaign is now well under way. Remember to wear your poppy on your left side, over your heart.

There are two public Remembrance Day services scheduled this year. The first will be held Sunday, Nov. 10, beginning at 2 p.m., at the Tiverton Cenotaph in Lions Memorial Park. The second service will be held Monday, Nov. 11, beginning at 10 a.m., with a service in the Kincardine Legion Hall, followed by the Remembrance Day ceremony at the Cenotaph outside. Everyone is invited to join the community in honouring Canada’s veterans. More information about the Kincardine Cenotaph can be found here.

Tickets for the New Year’s Eve Party, with the Adam Cousins Band, will be on sale soon at the Legion Bar. Watch for the announcement on Facebook.

183 Eats is pleased to announce it will soon have the new air-fryer in operation, which will give us some new cooking options, so stay tuned, and come in for lunch on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.

We are always looking for new volunteers at the Legion, and there are so many ways you can help out, it’s hard to list them all. The best way is to drop in to the Legion and inquire, or reach out to anyone on the executive at any time, and we can help match you up with a volunteer opportunity to match your interests. One great example of the amazing impact of our volunteers can be seen in the Celebration of Life events that community members hold in the hall. Since May, more than 1,200 people have come to the Branch for a Celebration of Life. This involved 314.5 hours of work by our volunteers who help with getting food ready, prepping the space, arranging tables, and many other tasks. Thanks again to all our volunteers!

Saturday, Oct. 19, Branch 183 had six dart players participate in the double and singles tournament. The competition was double-in, double-out, and advancing on in singles was Steve Musselman and Dan VanDerVeeken, who will travel to Hespeler in January for the District competition. In the doubles completion, we had three teams competing: Steve Musselman and Terri Hogsden, Derek Farr and Dan VanDerVeeken, and Dawn Senior and Paul Lajeunesse. We have two teams advancing to the District competition: Steve and Terri, and Derek and Dan. Thank you all for representing Branch 183, and best of luck at the next level!
