It was a cold, windy Friday night but that didn’t stop stop hundreds of people from heading to downtown Kincardine for Hometown Christmas.
The event saw the businesses along Queen Street revealing their beautiful Christmas window displays and welcoming people to come inside and get started on their Christmas shopping.
The Huron Heights Public School choir, made up of Grades 3-5 students and directed by music teacher Heather Weber, opened the event with several Christmas carols, followed by the lighting of Victoria Park.

Kincardine mayor Kenneth Craig welcomed everyone and thanked Canadian Tire Kincardine for donating the lights for the municipality, in Victoria Park and at St. Andrews Park in Tiverton. He also thanked the choir for doing a great job of getting the crowd into the Christmas spirit.
“Merry Christmas,” he said.
Everyone then headed through the downtown to take in the festivities of Hometown Christmas.
Members of the Kincardine Community Singers were carolling up and down Queen Street, and Santa and Mrs. Claus greeted the children at the corner of Queen and Harbour Streets.
The event also featured horse-drawn wagon rides, free hot dogs and hot chocolate, a petting zoo, the Kinetic Knights bake sale, top shot hockey, and the Kincardine District Senior School Grade 8 graduation bake sale.
