Kincardine woman has photo of Chretien at pavilion in 1992
Jean Clarke of Kincardine remembers the summer of 1992, when Jean Chretien was the leader of the opposition and visited Kincardine.
"He was here drumming up support for the Liberals, and my husband, Alex, who was reeve at the time, presented him with a Kincardine tartan tie," says Jean.
Chretien became prime minister of Canada in 1993, a post he held for a decade.
That event, 23 years ago, was held at the Kincardine Dance Hall Pavilion. Ironically enough, Chretien is returning to that same venue Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, as special guest speaker at an invitation-only event to celebrate Bruce Power's OSART (Operational Safety Review Team) Mission, with guests from the International Atomic Energy Agency.
