It’s Christmas, and it’s time for some lively, heartwarming, magical entertainment.
And that’s what you’ll find in “Elf Jr. the Musical,” performed at Huron Heights Public School in Kincardine.
Directed by Alanna Boucher, with music director Heather Weber, the show features 160 students, in Grade 3-6, singing and dancing their way into your heart!
The story is loosely based on the movie, “Elf,” about a human who ends up in the North Pole, becomes Buddy the Elf and enjoys spreading Christmas cheer everywhere. Santa Claus encourages him to go to New York City and find his birth father, Walter Hobbs, who does not believe in Santa. Buddy finds his father who is grouchy and hates Christmas.
During his journey, Buddy encounters all kinds of people and insists on brightening up their day with sparkle, jolly, twinkling decorations and lights.

The story is beautifully set to music, with about 10 songs, and plenty of action, well-choreographed by Lila Vandewalle, Peyton Anderson, Quinn Smith and Rachel Ridley.
Everly Ryan-Kerr is stellar as Buddy the Elf, with Leo Zafiriu as Santa Claus, Henny Hoogenboom as Charlie, Emma Warner as Shawanda, Trenton Johnston as Walter Hobbs, and Hayden Caravaggio as Charlie Dennon, the reporter in New York.
They are surrounded by a host of Elves, New Yorkers, Macy’s Employees, Skaters, Carollers, and more.
The show is a lot of fun and is open to the public, Dec. 11 and 12, at 6 p.m.; and Dec. 13, at Noon, in the school gymnasium. All tickets are by donation at the door, with all proceeds going to future productions.
