Bruce Avenue, Kincardine, remains closed until spring
If you were hoping to see Bruce Avenue, Kincardine, paved before the winter, you’re out of luck.
The section of the street, from Highway 21 to Wieck Boulevard, will remain closed until the spring.
The Municipality of Kincardine’s monthly E-newsletter states that the project began earlier this year and crews made excellent progress, but the pace began to slow as labour disputes had an impact on proper staffing levels.
“The contractor, Omega Contracting, was unable to complete work by the intended deadline based upon these staffing issues and the arrival of winter weather,” states the E-newsletter.
“This means that Bruce Avenue cannot open in its current unfinished condition, so barriers will remain in place between Wieck Boulevard and Highway 21 until the spring season’s arrival. Once the conditions are suitable, work will resume on-site, preparing and completing paving operations.
“Omega understands this is frustrating. As a way of thanking the community for its patience and understanding, Omega Contractors is making a $10,000 donation to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation.
“We look forward to the completion of the Bruce Avenue project in the spring once the weather conditions allow Omega to return to the site and work can begin.”
