Teen charged with impaired driving, after roll-over collision

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH TOWNSHIP, ON) - The Huron County OPP has charged an Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township teen with impaired driving, following a roll-over collision in the township.

Dec. 15, just after 4:40 a.m., officers received the report of a roll-over collision into a hydro pole on Lanesville Line. Officers attended the scene and spoke to the driver. They determined that the driver's ability to operate the motor vehicle was impaired.

The driver was arrested for impaired operation and transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton to provide breath samples before a qualified Intoxilizer Breath Technician. Breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

A 16-year-old youth of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township has been charged with Operation while Impaired - Over-80.

The accused was additionally charged with two offences under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) in relation to graduated licensing violations.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused's driver's licence was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Youth Court of Justice – Goderich, Feb. 13, 2025.
