Huron-Kinloss enters agreement with OCWA for water, wastewater services
Huron-Kinloss Township has announced a new five-year agreement with the
Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) for the operation and maintenance of the township’s water and wastewater systems. The agreement takes effect Jan. 1, 2025, following the conclusion of services from the current provider, Veolia Canada, Dec. 31, 2024.
The township appreciates Veolia Canada for providing more than two decades of dedicated service. Its commitment to ensuring safe, clean drinking water and maintaining high standards in wastewater management has been invaluable to the community.
Looking forward, OCWA brings a wealth of expertise and a corporate philosophy that prioritizes long-term sustainability. With a focus on resource stewardship, regulatory compliance, and system improvements, OCWA’s operational expertise will ensure the continued success of the township’s water and wastewater systems. The company’s strategic-planning and energy-management programs will support the township in maintaining efficient and environmentally-responsible operations.
Beyond technical excellence, OCWA is committed to community engagement. The company plans to participate in local events, such as parades and shoreline clean-ups, while its educational initiatives — including the OneWater education program, the "I Don’t Flush" campaign, and the OCWA Water Buggy — aim to foster a deeper understanding of water conservation and environmental stewardship within the community.
This partnership reflects the township’s forward-thinking approach to managing essential services, ensuring a seamless transition, and continued excellence in water and wastewater management for years to come.
Questions regarding water and wastewater may be directed to the township’s manager of environmental services, Cory Dulong.
