Investigation continues into early Sunday morning blaze in downtown Kincardine
The investigation continues into the fire that occurred in the former Century 21 and CRG Energy offices on Durham Market South, in downtown Kincardine, early Sunday morning.
Kincardine fire chief Guy Gallant said the call came in at 3:11 a.m., and the initial response was by Kincardine and Tiverton fire stations, with about 25 firefighters and seven fire apparatus.
Mutual aid was requested from the Huron-Kinloss Fire Department, with the Ripley station providing additional resources.
Gallant said the fire was under control shortly before 8 a.m., and extinguished shortly before 9 a.m. Crews were on the scene until about 3 p.m. to conduct a fire investigation, with assistance from the South Bruce OPP and the Office of the Fire Marshall.
No cause has been determined, said Gallant, and there were no known or reported injuries to emergency personnel or the public.
He thanked the volunteer firefighters, who spent more than 12 hours away from their families to deal with this fire, for their dedication to the community. He also thanked the Ripley station and other response partners.
Durham Market South was closed, from Princes Street to the Pet Valu store until the investigation was completed.
This site and the adjacent laundromat suffered severe damage in a fire back in July, 2024.
