Huron Shores Hospice gets provincial funding to expand to three hospice beds
The Ontario Ministry of Health has approved funding for Huron Shores Hospice to expand to three hospice beds at the facility in Tiverton.

This significant investment will fund essential nursing and personal support services, ensuring compassionate, high-quality care for more residents and their families in the region.

"We are deeply grateful for this substantial support from the Ontario government, which reflects its commitment to providing end-of-life care in rural communities," said executive director Cathy Herbert. "This funding allows us to continue providing excellent care for our existing residents while expanding our capacity to serve even more individuals and families when they need us most."

The additional funding (estimated to be about $175,000) represents a major milestone for the hospice, enhancing its ability to meet the growing demand for end-of-life care in the region. This support ensures more residents can receive dignified, personalized care close to home, surrounded by their loved ones.

The hospice currently operates two residential suites at Tiverton Park Manor. It relies on a combination of government funding, community donations, and volunteer efforts to fulfill its mission.

Huron Shores Hospice is a charitable, not-for-profit, volunteer-driven, community-funded residential hospice, providing free quality end-of-life care to residents of Kincardine, Huron-Kinloss, Saugeen Shores, and surrounding areas.

The hospice also provides free programs for Grief Recovery, End-of-Life Doula services, Death Cafes and End-of-Life Planning workshops.
